Audience and objective

This template is for trainers, coaches, community organisers and groups of friends who want one shared month of consistent activity.

The objective is to complete an appropriate amount of activity on a regular basis and contribute to the group’s shared progress. It is not a personalised training plan or a promise of a particular health or performance result.

Suggested 30-day structure

Choose one measure—steps, active minutes or active calories—and use the same measure throughout the challenge. Set a group objective that can include different individual effort levels.

Before day 1

Prepare

Publish the rules, invite participants and check that tracking is ready.

Days 1–7

Establish the rhythm

Focus on showing up and learning how progress is recorded.

Days 8–14

Protect consistency

Encourage realistic planning and recognise steady participation.

Days 15–21

Support the group

Invite participants to share encouragement or a useful routine.

Days 22–30

Finish thoughtfully

Keep the goal visible, allow recovery and prepare a closing message.

Participation rules

  • The challenge runs for the stated 30 calendar days.
  • One supported activity measure is used for group progress.
  • Each participant works at an effort level appropriate to them.
  • Rest and lower-activity days are allowed and expected.
  • Participants report tracking problems to the organiser without sharing sensitive health details.
  • Late joins are accepted only if the organiser states that rule before day 1.
  • Completion means following the agreed participation framework, not achieving a guaranteed outcome.

Accommodate different abilities

Give the group a common measure without requiring identical totals. Participants can choose a personal level or frequency that is appropriate for their current circumstances.

An organiser can recognise consistency, returning after rest, encouraging someone else or completing a personally appropriate activity—not only the highest number.

Rest, recovery and general safety

Include rest and recovery in the plan. More activity is not always better, and a participant should not ignore pain, illness, unusual symptoms or advice already given by a qualified professional.

Sample organiser announcement

Our 30-day activity challenge starts on 3 August. We’ll use active minutes as our shared measure, while each person chooses an appropriate level and includes rest when needed. Download YuBeFit, open Groups and use the join code included with this message by 1 August. I’ll post a short update each week, and we’ll recognise consistency and encouragement—not just the highest total. Please message me if you have a setup question.

Use a simple completion framework

At the end of day 30, close the challenge in three parts:

  1. Summarise the group’s participation without making health or performance claims.
  2. Recognise examples of consistency, support and returning after a break.
  3. Ask one reflection question: what helped you take part, and what should we change next time?

Run the 30-day challenge in YuBeFit

  1. Create a private YuBeFit group.
  2. Create a challenge using the agreed steps, active-minutes or active-calories measure.
  3. Add the 30-day dates and publish the rules in the group space.
  4. Share the join code and sample announcement with invited participants.
  5. Follow shared progress and publish the planned weekly messages.
  6. Post the completion summary and invite a short reflection.
